About

Laerskool
Mount Pleasant
Primary

We are a co-educational, parallel-medium public primary school following the standard CAPS curriculum (the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement). Our school caters for Grades 1 – 7. Furthermore, we have an on-site facility dedicated to Grade R (6 year old's) and Pre-Grade R (4 & 5 year old's).

Each grade is separated into two classes to accommodate our teaching languages - one for English and one for Afrikaans.

Principal’s Welcome

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to introduce Laerskool Mount Pleasant Primary to you!

As a Primary School, we are committed to providing your child with a healthy and stable environment wherein their intellectual, spiritual and physical needs can be met and developed to their maximum potential so that they can further their education with confidence.

Our aim is to create a relaxed and calm atmosphere that will not only allow our learners to be happy, but will also enable them to reach their full potential. Values are important to us, with the focus on the core values of respect, compassion, responsibility, integrity and work ethic.

We see our learners as family members and affectionately refer to them as "MOUNTIES" - having a place where you belong instills pride.

As the principal, I am one of those family members and have been part of this incredible family since 2009 when I was appointed as a Head of Department. In 2014, it was an honour to take on the role as the school’s 8th principal. My family and I live in Mount Pleasant and my two daughters attend the same school. I am certainly proud to be a Mountie and I am sure your child will be too!

Mission

We endeavour to:

  • Nurture your child as a whole (socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually).

  • Create a stimulating, positive and supportive environment wherein your child may experience emotional security.

  • Create a friendly, neat and relaxed atmosphere in our classrooms, encouraging your child to enjoy each day at school.

  • Afford your child the opportunity to be self-reliant and independent. This gives him/her the inner conviction of his/her own ability to overcome any obstacle.

  • Teach your child to approach a task with confidence and to complete it successfully.

  • Teach your child to respect his/her possessions and rights as well as those of others.

  • Teach your child that rules apply to everybody.

  • Expose your child to a range of activities which promote skills essential for formal education.

  • To instill Christian values and principles.

Vision

To empower our learners to acquire, demonstrate and value knowledge and skills that will support them as
productive citizens of the world and to put into practice the core values of our school: respect, compassion,
responsibility, integrity and work ethic.
